Observation HIll (Little Italy)

You can see that the church near the top of this photo has windows that have been boarded up. This is St. Peter’s Catholic Church, which closed in 2010.

Little Italy: Many of the Italians who immigrated to Duluth beginning in the 1880s settled from Tenth Avenue West to roughly Fourteenth Avenue West, from Michigan Street up to about Fourth Street, forming a community known as Duluth’s “Little Italy.” Read more here from Zenith City History.
