Snow and ice are still hugging Canal Park and Park Point. Earlier today snow on the lake was near the East End, but now looks like it has melted.
I’ve notice this tree near Portland Square on 12th Avenue East for many years because of its bright orange colors. A few years ago I interviewed some adults who were had a Portland Square Kids Reunion. They had many fun stories to tell about growing up in the area. BUT, they also told me that that tree ALWAYS was the first to turn orange in the fall.
I snapped this photo at the The Juice Pharm. This twosome, who are UMD students, are enjoying Hobo Bowls. Located in lower East Hillside, Juice Pharm, 12 S 15th Ave E., is a “hole-in-the-wall” space, and it’s a delightful space — bright and cheery with large picture window. It seats only a few people. (Many visit it on a take-out basis.) Their take-out containers are environmentally-friendly. Juices poured into Mason jars and if taken out have a plastic top. I’ve had two meals there the Mexicali tacos and a salad recommended by a friend. The salad was good, but, without a doubt, I will be ordering the the Mexicali Tacos again.
P.S. It’s kinda a grey, windy, cold day and we are waiting for a storm.
Today many people were still shoveling out from a snowstorm this weekend into Monday. The sky was blue and the temp was 24 degrees —balmy! More snow is in the forecast. I hate shoveling, but I have friends who love it, so I’m trying to channel their energy. As a dog walker I really appreciate everyone who keeps their sidewalks clear of snow.
I’m not sure why all the ships are on the lake I can count six here.
According to the Duluth Shipping News: Please be advised that due to the cold weather, ice is forming on Lake Superior causing vessels to move slowly and become delayed. There are also 12 foot waves on Lake Superior making vessels take the North Shore around to their destinations. Itinerary information will be updated as it is made available.
