The lines were long in the Post Office in Lincoln Park on Monday. But they move pretty quickly and the postal employees as well as the customers were in nice mood. Many were telling acquaintances, “Merry Christmas!”

Christmas decorations and lights are actually very hard to take photos of because they turn into a bright ball of light. The Seaway Hotel in Lincoln Park is home to low-income and vulnerable people, some with disabilities. In the past there have been complaints of drug activity too. I’m not sure what the status is now. Driving by I noticed that someone had taken the time to decorate the windows and the lobby for Christmas.

This photo shows industry, both old and new. It was industry that developed the West End, now known as Lincoln Park. In the foreground is the former Clyde Iron Works factory. I like the big, long windows and the fact that you can look right through the building and see the huge grain silos on the others side. I purposely waited until the double semi-truck was in the frame. Seeing the semi-truck pass by the old factory and a ship docked at the ore docks showed the new and the old industrial times mingling together.

Water rushing at Miller Creek in Lincoln Park

Today was a raining day and Miller Creek was full of water. In the past couple years it has been very dry. Lincoln Park is the name of the actual park in the West End? Lincoln Park Neighborhood.  There are several churches within a block to it’s entrance. Lincoln Park Elementary School is across the street to the east of the park. It has a road that runs through it Lincoln Park Drive.

As I walked out of the Post Office in Lincoln Park, I noticed a bird on the top of  the flag pole. I had to look twice, it wasn’t an eagle and it was real.
