First Presbyterian Steeple

First Presbyterian Church Steeple

I never get tired of looking at this church or the steeple.

Dave Anderson of the Northland’s NewsCenter wrote this in 2010:

This old church on Second Street in Duluth was built in 1890.
The roots of the congregation go back even farther.

“Duluth First Presbyterian was Duluth’s first church. We were organized June 1, 1869.”

The 141 year old flock meets in a 110 year old building.

Sunday afternoon cruise: boat, bike and convertible

My husband and I were out on a patio of the DECC when I saw his red convertible roll by. With the a Vista Fleet tour boat in the background, the convertible and  bicycle, it felt like a Perfect Duluth Day. (We had just attended the Celebration of Steve O’Neil’s life and were headed to the Harborside Ballroom for refreshments and visiting. I thought it was fitting that a beautiful scene like this was in view. (Yesterday’s photo of the Peace Church’s tower also seemed fitting. I took it after attending a visitation for Steve at the Peace Church. I remember thinking that it was the same sky that he had looked at only a week ago.)
